Oilfield Production Chemicals are one of the tools that can be used on an oil production platform or installation basically to solve various associated problems. These chemicals are administered essentially to proffer solutions geared towards increasing oil production, creating better produced water quality, and also enhancing the quality of the produced oil or gas. They are applied in many process systems such as;
- Water injection
- Oil & gas production
- Gas separating and dehydration
- Utilities, etc.
Some of the associated production problems include;
- Foaming, Wax and scale precipitation which can result in reduced production
- Corrosion can cause problems in process equipment, unnecessary expense and injury to personnel and to the environment
- Emulsions can result in bad water quality, danger to the environment and high water content in the produced oil
- Bacteria can cause corrosion and the production of toxic gases such as Hydrogen sulphide.
